The St. Stephen RCMP has charged a man following the seizure of drugs and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in St. Stephen, N.B.

On February 14, 2026, at approximately 1:20 a.m., members of the St. Stephen RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle travelling on Route 3 north of St. Stephen.

Subsequently, police searched the vehicle and found what is believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as two digital scales, packaging materials and cell phones.  As a result, the driver, a 43-year-old man from St. Stephen, and a 36-year-old woman were arrested.   The passenger was later released from custody.

Later the same day, the driver, 43-year-old Michael Foster from St. Stephen, appeared in Saint John Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was remanded into custody pending a future court appearance scheduled for February 17, 2026, in Saint John Provincial Court.

New Brunswick RCMP is committed to reducing the supply of controlled substances in our communities and to deterring persons from engaging in drug trafficking through ongoing enforcement efforts.

The investigation is ongoing.
