Update: RCMP Major Crime Unit investigating woman’s death as homicide

Update: On March 11, 2026, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit and the Codiac Regional RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, arrested a 35-year-old man from Moncton in connection with the investigation into the death of Melissa Price. On March 12, Devlin O’Blenis appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on April 2, 2026.

Update, March 9, 2026: The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit is now releasing the name of the victim. The death of 39-year-old Melissa Price of Moncton continues to be investigated as a homicide. As police continue to investigate the matter, the NB RCMP would like to reassure the public that there is no on-going concern for public safety, as this is believed to be an isolated incident. Police are asking anyone who may have information that could help further the investigation to contact the New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or by email at jdiv.mcu@rcmp-grc.gc.ca

Update, February 18, 2026: The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has since identified the victim as a 39-year-old woman from Moncton and has been in contact with her family. Her death is still being investigated as a homicide; however, police are still working to determine the cause of her death. Police are asking anyone who may have information that could help further the investigation to contact the New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or by email at jdiv.mcu@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) is investigating the death of an approximately 40-year-old woman from Moncton, N.B., as a homicide. 

On February 15, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death on High Street, in Moncton, NB. When police arrived, they located a woman deceased in a garbage bin outside near a walking trail.  

On February 16, in the early morning hours, a police operation was conducted on Norwood Street in Moncton, in connection with the investigation. 

The New Brunswick RCMP MCU has since determined the woman’s death to be suspicious and is investigating it as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
