19-year-old man dies following hit and run

A 19-year-old man from Norton, N.B., has died following a hit and run incident on Route 2 near Swan Creek, N.B.

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run on Route 2 near Swan Creek, N.B. 

The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of a vehicle had pulled over due to mechanical issues, exited the vehicle, and was struck by another vehicle travelling eastbound on Route 2. 

The driver of the stopped vehicle, a 19-year-old man from Norton, N.B., died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The two passengers of the pulled over vehicle did not suffer serious injuries.

The other vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene before police arrived. 

Members of Ambulance New Brunswick, as well as a member of the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System attended the scene. 

Route 2 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. 

The investigation is ongoing.
