43-year-old man charged with aggravated assault

A 43-year-old man from Moncton, has been charged in connection with an aggravated assault in Moncton, N.B.

On March 14, 2026, at approximately 11:52 p.m., the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of an assault that occurred on Main Street in Moncton. When police arrived, they located a 37-year-old man from Moncton, injured and unconscious. The man was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries. The suspect had fled the area before police arrived. Subsequently, patrols were made but the individual was not located.

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Codiac Patrols, Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU), General Investigation Services (GIS) and Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) advanced the investigation and safely arrested 43-year-old Luke Powers from Moncton, at a residence on Weldon Street.

On March 18, 2026, Luke Powers appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with aggravated assault. He was remanded into custody pending a future court appearance on March 20, 2026. 

The investigation is ongoing.
