Man arrested after fleeing police

A 32-year-old man from Elsipogtog, N.B., has been arrested after fleeing police in Elsipogtog, N.B. 

On March 17, 2026, at approximately midnight, members of the Richibucto RCMP observed a suspicious vehicle pulling into a driveway on Sunset Drive in Elsipogtog.  A marked police cruiser pulled in behind the vehicle. The driver and passenger fled the scene. The driver and passenger fled the scene. 

After following the tracks in the snow, police observed the driver outside a nearby residence. When officers attempted to arrest him, the individual forced open the front door and entered the residence. Police followed the individual and arrested a 32-year-old man from Elsipogtog. He was later released from custody, pending a future court appearance. Police are still trying to locate the passenger.

After further investigation, police determined that the vehicle used by the individual had previously been reported stolen. Following a search of the vehicle, police seized several items including a total of $100 000 in Canadian counterfeit money, two sheets of silver line for counterfeit money, drug paraphernalia, a small quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, as well as a laptop.

On March 20, 2026, 32-year-old Ronald Sock from Elsipogtog, N.B., appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with forcible entry, resisting arrest and failure to comply with a probation order. He was released from custody until his next court appearance scheduled for April 13, 2026.   

The investigation is ongoing.
