A 32-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has been charged after he fled from police near Hampton, Sussex and Salisbury N.B.
On April 23, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Hampton RCMP responded to reports of a truck driving erratically on Route 1 in the Nauwigewauk area.
When police arrived in the area, they quickly located the truck. Due to the possible risk to public safety, a tire deflation device was successfully deployed, however, the damaged truck continued to evade police at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue the truck.
A short time later, with assistance of the Caledonia Region RCMP, the New Brunswick RCMP’s Police Dog Services (PDS) and RCMP Air Services, police located the truck on Route 2 near Salisbury, where it was ultimately abandoned after leaving the roadway.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 32-year-old man from Moncton, was subsequently located by PDS, and was arrested without further incident. He was also found to have an active Canada-wide warrant in connection with another matter, and the truck was confirmed to have been reported stolen from a Bloomfield residence earlier that day.
On April 24, 2026, Raymond Leblanc appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Theft of a motor vehicle
He was remanded into custody and will reappear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.
