A 21-year-old man from Fredericton, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash near Oromocto, N.B.
On May 8, 2026, at approximately 7:52 p.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 2, under the overpass for Route 7 in Haneytown, near Oromocto. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The crash is believed to have occurred when the eastbound vehicle on Route 2 lost control, left the roadway, and struck a concrete pillar. One eastbound lane of Route 2 was closed for approximately three and a half hours but has since reopened.
Members of the Oromocto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, Maritime Road Development Corporation (MRDC), and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office also attended the scene.
The RCMP is asking for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the crash, who has dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicle prior to the crash, to contact the Oromocto RCMP at 506-357-4300.
A New Brunswick RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
