The New Brunswick RCMP is warning the public about “Senior Assassin”, a game played by graduating students that involves using water guns.
“Senior Assassin” is a game often played by graduating students where participants use water guns to “eliminate” assigned targets. While intended as a harmless activity, it can pose serious safety risks and could easily lead to dangerous misunderstandings. The water guns are often painted to look like real guns which can result in an armed police response. Efforts to avoid being “tagged” may also lead to unlawful or unsafe behaviour, including trespassing and erratic driving, placing both participants and the public at risk.
Laws related to trespassing, disturbing the peace, and dangerous or reckless driving will be strictly enforced. Carrying an imitation firearm in public can also have some serious legal consequences, including fines, charges, and even imprisonment.
The RCMP encourages students and parents to be aware of these concerns and to make safe, responsible choices.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity in their area are asked to contact their local police detachment.
