A 75-year-old man from Dieppe, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The investigation began in October 2024 when the New Brunswick Internet Child Exploitation Unit initiated a proactive investigation on a media sharing platform. This investigation revealed that an individual in the Dieppe area distributed child sexual abuse and exploitation material in October 2024 and February 2025.

On December 11, 2025, members of the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit, along with members of the Codiac Regional RCMP, and the RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services, executed a search warrant at a property on Bahama Street in Dieppe. Police seized several electronic devices as part of their investigation. A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later released on strict conditions pending a future court appearance.

On May 25, 2026, 75-year-old Roger Auffrey was charged with possession and making available child sexual abuse and exploitation material in Moncton Provincial Court.

On May 26, 2026, Roger Auffrey appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and entered a not guilty plea and set a trial date from February 15 to 17, 2027.
