St. Stephen RCMP investigation leads to significant drug trafficking sentence

A 23-year-old man has received a significant sentence following a drug trafficking investigation initiated by the St. Stephen RCMP.

On November 27, 2025, at approximately 2:05 p.m., members of the St. Stephen RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Highway 127 in Bayside in connection with an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs. During the search, police seized ammunition, drugs, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A then-22-year-old man from Bayside was arrested at the scene without incident.

On November 28, 2025, Miles Burton Johnson Jr. appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of firearms and failure to comply with a release order. 

On June 23, 2026, Miles Burton Johnson Jr, was sentenced to a total custodial sentence of 25 and a half months. He has been ordered to submit a DNA sample and will is subject to a forfeiture of all items seized during the investigation, as well as a 10-year firearms prohibition.

This outcome highlights the impact of their efforts and the importance of their work."
