A 24-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman, both from Springhill, N.S., have been charged following the theft of a vehicle in Sackville, N.B.
On June 21, 2026, at approximately 1:13 p.m., members of the Sackville RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle theft near a business on Main Street in Sackville.
The incident is believed to have occurred when the victim was attempting to enter her vehicle when she was approached by a man. He grabbed her keys, pushed her to the ground, and fled the scene in her vehicle. The victim was transferred to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, the Southeast Community Crime Reduction Unit was able to identify two suspects. The stolen vehicle has since been recovered.
On June 25, 2026, a 24-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both from Springhill, were arrested in Sackville without incident and remanded in custody.
On June 26, 2026, 24-year-old Zachary Chatfield and 45-year-old Melissa Chatfield appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and were both charged with robbery. They were remanded into custody pending a future court appearance.
On July 2, 2026, Zachary Chatfield and Melissa Chatfield both appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and were released from custody pending a future court appearance.
The investigation is ongoing.
