A 66-year-old man from St. Stephen, N.B, has been arrested after police seized a loaded firearm following a traffic stop near Brockway, N.B.
On July 2, 2026, at approximately 10:05 p.m., a member of the St. Stephen RCMP detachment received a report that a man had left a property in a vehicle following an altercation. The man was believed to be intoxicated and was reportedly in possession of a registered handgun.
Following a subsequent investigation, police quickly arrested a 66-year-old man from St. Stephen on Highway 3 near Brockway. The vehicle was searched and police seized a loaded, unsecured firearm, and ammunition. The man failed the roadside test. He was taken to the St. Stephen for a breathalyser test. The man was later released from custody, pending a future court appearance.
