A 36-year-old man from Bathurst, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle collision involving a moose in Bartibog, N.B.
On July 7, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., members of the Tracadie, Neguac and Chaleur RCMP detachments responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision between a motorcycle and a moose on Route 8, in Bartibog. The driver of the motorcycle, a 36-year-old man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The passenger of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
Members of the Miramichi Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
