A 33-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., and a 27-year-year-old man from Halifax, N.S., have been sentenced following a shooting incident in Moncton, N.B.
On April 19, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a shooting incident on MacAleese Lane in Moncton. It was determined that an individual had fired at a moving vehicle, striking both the driver and the passenger. The driver was able to leave the area. Both individuals were later transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Later the same day, a 33-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., and a 27-year-year-old man from Halifax, N.S., were arrested without incident.
On April 20, 2025, 33-year-old Robert Seary from Moncton, N.B., appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with discharging a prohibited firearm with intent and accessory after the fact. He was remanded into custody pending a future court appearance. On April 23, 2025, he appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was released on conditions.
On April 20, 2025, 27-year-year-old Brandon Robert Winsor from Halifax, N.S., appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with aggravated assault, and several firearm charges. He was remanded into custody pending his future court appearance. On July 2, 2025, he appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was released on conditions.
On June 24, 2026, Robert Seary appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was sentenced to two years in prison. He will be prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms for a period of ten years.
Also on June 24, 2026, Brandon Robert Winsor appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was sentenced to six years in prison. He will be prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms for a period of ten years.
