The West District RCMP is asking for the public’s help following an attempted child abduction in Lake George, N.B.
On July 9, 2026, between approximately 10:45 a.m. and 11:05 a.m., members of the West District RCMP responded to a report of an attempted child abduction on Sunset Cove Lane near Ewart Hyde Road in Lake George. As part of the investigation, police have spoken with several witnesses, including the youth involved.
The investigation has determined that a 10-year-old girl was approached by three men travelling in an older-model white passenger van. The vehicle was described as having rust along the bottom and front, scratches on the rear driver’s-side door, and a Nova Scotia licence plate with the last two digits believed to be “28.” The child also reported seeing several stickers on the licence plate, including one depicting a dog.
The three men were described as white, English-speaking men wearing black balaclavas and dark-coloured T-shirts. One of the suspects was described as having a skull tattoo on the inner part of his right forearm, with lines extending up his arm from the tattoo.
One of the men allegedly opened the sliding door of the van and attempted to coax the child into the vehicle. The child was able to get away safely and was not physically injured.
Police responded immediately; however, the vehicle had left the area before officers arrived. Members conducted neighbourhood inquiries and have canvassed the area for surveillance footage.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, has information about the incident, or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area between 10:45 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. on July 9, is asked to contact the Keswick RCMP detachment at 506-357-4300. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
