The St. Stephen RCMP is highlighting the successful conclusion of two significant drug trafficking investigations that have resulted in a 9.5-year sentence for a 43-year-old man from St. Stephen, N.B.

Following drug trafficking investigations initiated in December 2024, and February 2026, Michael Ryan Foster of St. Stephen, N.B., had been charged with several drug-related offences. Police also seized approximately $37,000 worth of fentanyl and $6,900 worth of methamphetamine during these investigations, preventing these dangerous substances from reaching communities throughout the region.

On July 9, 2026, Michael Ryan Foster appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was sentenced to a total of 9.5 years in prison. In addition, he will also be required to submit a DNA sample, and has been subjected to a lifetime firearms prohibition, and a forfeiture order for all evidence and assets seized during the investigations.

The investigations were led by RCMP General Duty members in the RSC10 (Charlotte County) region of the province. The successful outcome reflects the ongoing commitment of RCMP members to identifying, disrupting, and dismantling individuals involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs.

“This sentence demonstrates the significant impact that dedicated police work can have in protecting our communities from the harms associated with illicit drugs,” said Sgt. Pierre Ladouceur of the St. Stephen RCMP. “I want to recognize the outstanding efforts of our General Duty members whose professionalism, persistence, and investigative work were instrumental in bringing this matter before the courts. Their commitment to addressing drug trafficking continues to make our communities safer.”

Sgt. Ladouceur also emphasized the dangers posed by fentanyl and the importance of ongoing enforcement efforts.

“Fentanyl remains one of the most potent and dangerous illicit drugs impacting our communities today. Even small quantities can have devastating and potentially fatal consequences. Our members have demonstrated exceptional dedication in identifying and addressing this threat, and this sentence reflects the seriousness of these offences and the commitment of law enforcement to combatting the trafficking of harmful substances.”

The RCMP remains committed to working with community partners and the public to reduce the impact of illegal drugs and to hold those responsible for drug trafficking accountable.
