Over one kilogram of fentanyl seized, two individuals sentenced in connection with drug trafficking investigation

Over one kilogram of fentanyl has been seized and two individuals have been sentenced in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in Moncton, N.B.
On April 14, 2026, members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit - Priority Offender (CRU-PO) and the Codiac Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) began two separate investigations into the trafficking of illegal drugs in Moncton. As the investigations progressed, police determined that the individuals involved were connected.
On May 7, members of the Codiac CRU-PO and IEU, with assistance from members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit – Property Crime, executed a search warrant at a residence on Main Street in Moncton. During the search, police seized approximately 550 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, illegal cigarettes, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and cash. A 58-year-old woman was arrested at the scene.
On May 8, members of the Codiac CRU-PO and IEU, with assistance from members of the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit – Property Crime, Codiac General Investigations section and Codiac General Duty, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Leopold F. Belliveau Drive in Moncton. During the search, police seized drug paraphernalia and cash. A 28-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, and a 39-year-old woman were arrested at the scene. Police seized approximately 527 grams of fentanyl as a result of searches incidental to the arrests.
The 24-year-old woman and 39-year-old woman were later released.
Also on May 8, 58-year-old Catherine Joy Cook and 28-year-old Jessie-Lynn Fillmore were both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl for which they both later plead guilty.
On June 10, Catherine Joy Cook was sentenced to seven years, 10 months and seven days in prison, minus time served. She also received a 10-year weapons prohibition order and was ordered to provide a DNA sample.
On July 28, Jessie-Lynn Fillmore was sentenced to eight years in prison. She also received a 10-year weapons prohibition order and was ordered to provide a DNA sample.
“Fentanyl continues to have devastating impacts on individuals, families and communities across the province,” said Staff Sergeant Joel Arsenault from the Codiac Regional RCMP. “This seizure and the significant sentences imposed reflect the seriousness of these offences and our ongoing commitment to protecting the public by targeting those responsible for trafficking these dangerous substances.”
