RCMP Major Crime Unit investigating man’s death as homicide

Update, September 1, 2026: On August 31, 2026, the Major Crime Unit arrested a 29-year-old man from Moncton after he was located by the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit. He was arrested without incident as part of this investigation. On September 1, 2026, 29-year-old James Hannah appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Zachary Pollock. He was remanded into custody, pending a future court appearance.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) is investigating the death of a 34-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., as a homicide.
On August 26, 2026, at approximately 11:50 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a seriously injured man on St. George Street in Moncton. When police arrived, they located 34-year-old, Zachary Pollock, in a parking lot, suffering from serious injuries. Life-saving measures were performed, and he was transported to hospital with critical injuries. He later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.
The Major Crime Unit has since assumed carriage of the file and is investigating Zachary Pollock's death as a homicide.
A member of the New Brunswick coroner’s office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled to determine his exact cause of death.
