Individual sentenced following fraud investigation

A 61-year-old man from Jardineville, N.B., has been sentenced following a series of frauds in the Dieppe area. 

In November 2019, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP began an investigation after receiving a report that an individual was collecting payments for services allegedly provided under the name of a former specialized automotive and industrial service business in Dieppe. 

On September 26, 2023, the Forensic Accounting Management Group (FAMG) completed a comprehensive and instrumental audit, providing critical findings and recommendations that were subsequently forwarded to the RCMP for review and action.

On November 7, 2023, as part of the ongoing investigation, a 61-year-old man from Jardineville attended the Codiac Regional RCMP Detachment and was arrested. He was later released, pending a future court appearance.

On July 16, 2024, 61-year-old Charles Arsenault appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with fraud over $5 000, theft over $5 000, and forgery. He was released from custody pending a future court appearance. 

On August 14, 2026, Charles Arsenault appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was sentenced to 22 months in jail, minus time served and was ordered to pay over $100 000 in restitution.
