Two people deceased, one person arrested following collision

A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man have died following a two-vehicle collision in Moncton, N.B.

On October 5, 2026, at approximately 7:23 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Berry Mills Road and Zack Road in Moncton. 

The collision is believed to have occurred when a car travelling with five individuals, all from Moncton, N.B., crossed the centre of the road and collided head-on with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), also travelling with five passengers. 

A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man died at the scene as a result of their injuries. A 14-year-old boy was transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, a 16-year-old boy was transported to hospital and believed to be in critical condition, and the driver, a 25-year-old man was also transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the car was later arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

The five individuals of the SUV, aged from 24 to 72, all from Arkansas, U.S.A, were transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. 

Members of the Moncton Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, the RCMP Forensic Collision Analysis Team, an RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System operators (drone), and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office attended the scene. 

Autopsies have been scheduled for the two deceased individuals, and the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Berry Mills Road was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene and has since reopened.
