The St. Stephen RCMP is investigating potential criminal activities linked to an increase in suspected drug overdoses in the community.
Between October 18 and October 20, 2026, members of the St. Stephen RCMP responded to several overdose-related calls within their jurisdiction in their capacity as first responders.
As part of the investigation, police are seeking information about individuals who may be supplying illegal drugs in the area.
“The use of illegal drugs carries significant risks, as individuals can never be certain what a substance contains,” says Cpl. Hans Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP. “Highly dangerous and potentially lethal substances may be in circulation, and even a small amount can have serious consequences. We encourage anyone with information about the supply of illegal drugs in their community to contact police.”
While overdose calls are medical emergencies and do not necessarily involve criminal activity, police are examining whether any criminal elements may be linked to these incidents.
Anyone with information about suspected illegal drug activity in their community is encouraged to contact your local detachment or the New Brunswick RCMP at 1-888-506-7267.
For information about overdose prevention, public health risks, or emerging substances of concern, members of the public should contact the New Brunswick Department of Health.
