Nunavut RCMP continue investigating suspected drug trafficking. Following an April 15, 2026, media update by Chief Superintendent Kent Pike and Justice Minister George Hickes in Iqaluit, police have seized cash, drugs, and a firearm, resulting in three arrests.

On May 11, 2026, police arrested a male at the Iqaluit International Airport. The male had travelled from Pangnirtung when he was taken into custody at the Iqaluit International Airport. Upon arrest, officers seized $16,020 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

On May 16, 2026, Iqaluit RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Ataani Lane. During the stop, officers had reasonable grounds to arrest both the driver and a passenger for possession of property obtained by crime. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered multiple pieces of evidence, including quantities of cocaine, cash, and a loaded prohibited firearm.

As the investigation progressed, Iqaluit RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) have linked the three people charged in these investigations to individuals who were charged for similar offences in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut last year.

Police are continuing their investigation and encourage anyone with information about the illicit drug trade in Nunavut to contact their local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-222-TIPS (8477).
