Charges laid after Fort Good Hope RCMP seize drug shipment

On April 20th, Fort Good Hope RCMP received information that a female suspect was arriving that day in the community on a plane with contraband alcohol.

Officers made contact with the woman at the Fort Good Hope airport and developed further grounds to believe she was in possession of illegal drugs. The suspect was arrested and searched, leading to the seizure of approximately 261 grams of suspected crack-cocaine.

As a result, 33-year-old Marie Erutse of Fort Good Hope has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The reported contraband alcohol was not located.

Erutse was later released to appear in court on June 2nd, 2025 in Fort Good Hope.

The investigation remains ongoing. Fort Good Hope detachment would like to thank the community and local government for their partnership and support in combating the illicit drug trade in the community.
