Fort McPherson RCMP investigating after human remains found in burnt cabin

Police in Fort McPherson are investigating the scene of a cabin fire in which a person was found deceased.

On September 18th, Fort McPherson RCMP received a report that a person had travelled up river to the cabin of a family member after not hearing from them for several days. Upon arriving at the cabin, it was found to have burned. Human remains were located inside the wreckage.

An investigation is underway in partnership with the NT Coroner’s Service and Office of the Fire Marshall.

Officers remain on scene at this time. Investigative support is being provided by G Division’s Forensic Identification Services and Major Crimes Unit.
