Tuktoyaktuk RCMP seizes illicit alcohol

Tuktoyaktuk RCMP seized a quantity of illicit alcohol while executing a search warrant at a residence.

Following information received that individuals from Tuktoyaktuk purchased a significant quantity of alcohol in Dawson City, Yukon, the Tuktoyaktuk RCMP began a liquor act investigation.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on November 27th, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the community. During the search, RCMP officers located inside the residence 36 x 750 ml and 12 x 375 ml bottles of vodka.
As a result, one man was charged with:

• Unlawful sale and supply of alcohol, contrary to section 74(b) of the NWT Liquor Act
• Failure to comply with the section 2 of the Tuktoyaktuk Liquor Restriction Regulations – no person shall bring into the restricted area or possess within the restricted area, at any time, a quantity of spirits in excess or 2280 ml.

Tuktoyaktuk RCMP remains committed to addressing the harm bootlegging causes our Northern communities and encourages the public to share any information they have on suspected bootlegging with police.
