Yellowknife RCMP arrest suspect after break and enter at Chateau Nova

One person is in custody after police in Yellowknife responded to a break and enter at the Chateau Nova Tuesday night.
On February 17th at approximately 11:36 p.m. Yellowknife RCMP received a report that a person had forcibly entered the banquet hall at the hotel.
Officers began an investigation, with assistance from G Division’s Forensic Identification Services unit. The suspect was quickly identified and was located approximately one hour later at an apartment building. He was arrested without incident.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect, a 31-year-old Yellowknife man, was subject to 3 separate probation orders, each of which were in place as a result of convictions for break & enters and other property offences.
The suspect had recently been arrested in relation to a theft from the downtown Independent Grocer on February 12th and was actively being sought by officers in relation to a theft from Shoppers Drug Mart that occurred on the morning of February 17th.
The suspect has 10 charges currently before the courts including:
• (3 counts) Theft under $5000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code
• Breaking and entering, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• (6 counts) Failure to comply with a probation order
He was held by police to appear for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
