Multiple suspects charged after Fort Providence RCMP respond to armed home invasion

Four people have been charged as a result of an investigation into a home invasion in Fort Providence.
On February 25th at approximately 11:19 a.m. Fort Providence RCMP received a report that four masked individuals, one of whom was in possession of a rifle, had entered a home looking for a person who was not present. This incident had reportedly taken place the previous day but was not reported at the time.
An investigation was launched and the suspects were identified.
On February 25, 32-year-old Westlin Sabourin of Fort Providence was arrested and charged with:
• Breaking and entering, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Failure to comply with a release order condition, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code
He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
On March 4th, 34-year-old Adrian Farcy was arrested and charged with:
• Breaking and entering, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
He was held for a bail hearing and released by the courts to appear at a later date.
On March 6th, the Fort Providence RCMP, with the assistance of the G Division Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant on a residence in the community in relation to this matter. A long gun, an imitation firearm and a small quantity of ammunition was seized.
A 29-year-old male from Fort Providence was arrested at the residence as part of the search. He was later released on an Undertaking with conditions to attend court at a later date. As his charges have not formally been sworn, he cannot yet be named.
A 54-year-old female was also arrested at the residence and will face a charge relating to unsafe storage of firearms. She is not believed to be involved in the home invasion.
The fourth and final suspect in this matter, 28-year-old Jeff Canadien, was located and arrested on March 7th. He was charged with:
• Breaking and entering, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a prohibited weapon while knowing possession is unauthorized, contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a weapon contrary to a weapons prohibition order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code.
He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
This matter is believed to be related to the local illicit drug trade. The parties involved are known to each other. The investigation remains ongoing.
