Yellowknife RCMP seize drugs after arrest of wanted subject

Yellowknife RCMP have seized a quantity of drugs and cash after arresting a person subject to an arrest warrant.
On the evening of March 10, Yellowknife RCMP received information from a member of the public indicating that an individual known to police to be the subject of a Canada-wide warrant had been seen getting into a taxi. Officers located the taxi and conducted a traffic stop.
The suspect was arrested without incident and found to be in possession of approximately 24 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, a quantity of prescription drugs and approximately 820$ in cash.
22-year-old Gaige Forrest had been subject to a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest stemming from a parole violation. Forrest was subject to parole after being released from custody following a sentence relating to several violent firearms related offences.
He has been charged with:
• Being unlawfully at large, contrary to section 145(1) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
He was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
