On June 24th, 2026, the Fort Simpson RCMP responded to a plane crash approximately 50 km of Fort Simpson.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., on June 24th, the Fort Simpson RCMP was advised a plane engaged in woodland fire response had crashed near Fort Simpson. The aircraft was a fixed wing Turbo Commander 960 Bird Dog 104, with three people on board.
The RCMP attended the site in the evening to launch an investigation and confirm the status of the aircraft's occupants. No further information on the occupants is available at this time.
The Transportation Safety Board (TBS) has been engaged and is leading the investigation.
