The Yellowknife RCMP conducted an operation on Williams Avenue on June 29th, which led to the arrest and charging of a man.

On Saturday, June 27th, the Yellowknife RCMP received information that Elias Schiller was inside an apartment on Range Lake Road. Elias Schiller is the subject of multiple arrest warrants for various files, including drug offences and assault.

The Yellowknife RCMP attended the residence and requested access. Door knocks went unanswered. The Yellowknife RCMP obtained a Fenney warrant to enter the residence with assistance from the Northwest Territories RCMP Emergency Response Team.

Upon entry, the RCMP located three individuals, neither of whom was Elias Schiller. The RCMP found seven firearms in plain sight, which were subsequently seized.

Two days later, on Monday, June 29th, the Yellowknife RCMP, with assistance from the NT RCMP Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team, attended an apartment on Williams Avenue. A section of the avenue was blocked off for several hours during the operation.

The RCMP confirmed with the occupants of the residence that Elias Schiller was inside. Attempts to call out Elias Schiller were unsuccessful. The RCMP obtained a Feeney warrant to enter the residence, and subsequently arrested Elias Schiller. No one was injured as a result of this operation.

Mr. Schiller, 26-year-old, was charged with resisting a peace officer, contrary to section 129 of the Criminal Code. He is currently in custody awaiting court appearance on the following charges:

- Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code;
- Failure to attend court or surrender, contrary to section 145(2) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking, Schedule I: Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The Yellowknife RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience throughout these two operations.
