Fort Smith RCMP investigating fire at Aurora College housing unit

At approximately 4:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 9th, Fort Smith RCMP received a call for service to respond to a suspicious fire at Aurora Garden housing unit, on Field Street.

RCMP responded to the location along with the Fort Smith Fire Department and found the front steps and front entry of the building on fire. Firefighters immediately extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading.

The Aurora College unit and adjacent units were vacant at the time of the fire; no injuries reported.

Preliminary information collected at the scene indicated that the fire may have been set intentionally.

The investigation is ongoing.
