On July 13th, the Yellowknife RCMP responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) on Highway 4 involving a single motorcycle.

At approximately 6:09 p.m., on July 13th, the Yellowknife RCMP received a call regarding an MVC on Highway 4, or Ingraham Trail, between km 14 and 15.

Officers dispatched on scene along with the City of Yellowknife Emergency Services and the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Infrastructure.

According to information gathered, a single motorcycle was travelling east on Highway 4, when it attempted to pass a vehicle in an unsafe location and veered left into the ditch to avoid a collision with oncoming traffic.

The driver of motorcycle, a 53-year-old male, was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital, and later medevac’d to Edmonton for treatment of injuries.

The Highway 4 was closed for a few hours to allow for the RCMP to analyse the scene. At this time, impairment and road conditions are not believed to be factors in the MVC.

The investigation is ongoing.
