Yellowknife RCMP respond to helicopter crash near Gamètì

On Sunday, August 9th, at approximately 2:55 p.m., the Yellowknife RCMP received a report of a helicopter crash near the community of Gamètì.
The helicopter, with three occupants on board, crashed into a lake approximately 17 km north of the community.
The Yellowknife RCMP initiated a search and rescue operation to locate the occupants, in collaboration with the Tłı̨chǫ government and community members. A group of community members organized rescue boats to search for the downed aircraft.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., all three occupants were located and rescued. They were brought to the local health centre to treat minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash has been referred to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
