RCMP is asking Fort Smith residents to continue sheltering in place

The Northwest Territories RCMP is asking Fort Smith residents to stay home while officers continue their search for the suspect involved in the shooting in Fort Smith.

A second public alert urging residents to stay indoors was issued shortly before 8 a.m. and remains in effect. The RCMP reports that people are out and about in the community, ignoring the order to stay indoors.

The suspect in the shooting incident is still at large. Until the situation is contained and the order is lifted, residents must stay indoors for their own safety.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Fort Smith RCMP at 867-872-1111 or call 911.
