Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide near Slave Lake - Update

Slave Lake, Alta. – Further investigation has resulted in the arrest of another person in relation to this homicide. On March 12, 2026, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested Jordan Laboucan in Peace River, with the assistance of Peace Regional RCMP Detachment, and Alberta RCMP's Western Alberta District General Investigation Section and Crime Reduction Teams.

Jordan Laboucan, 40-year-old resident of Whitefish Lake First Nation, is facing a charge for second degree murder. He has been remanded in police custody. Jordan Laboucan's next court appearance is set for March 18, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake.

This police investigation remains ongoing.
