Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide near Leduc – Update #4

Leduc, Alta. – The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid charges in connection with the March 14, 2026, shooting on the QE II south of Leduc. RCMP are confirming that the victim of the shooting is a 22-year-old.

As a result of the investigation, on March 21, 2026, RCMP arrested an 18-year-old resident of Lloydminster resident in Canoe Lake Saskatchewan. They have been charged with second-degree-murder. They have been remanded into custody and is being transported to Alberta where a future court date will be determined. 

“Despite the laying of these charges, we know that there will be many questions regarding suspects and motivations, “said Staff Sergeant John Brown of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit,” please understand that our ability to answer these questions is limited while our officers continue their important work. “

RCMP will be providing additional updates as the investigation continues.
