Westlock RCMP respond to serious motor vehicle collision - Update

Westlock County, Alta. — On Apr. 21, 2026, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Westlock RCMP responded to a fatal head-on collision on Highway 44, just north of Highway 651, involving a semi-truck and an SUV. The 36-year-old driver, resident of Westlock County, and sole occupant of the SUV, was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased on scene. The 53-year-old driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck was transported for non-life-threatening injuries by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. 

Westlock RCMP were assisted by Alberta RCMP’s Real Time Operation Centre in Edmonton, Westlock RCMP Traffic Services, Morinville RCMP Detachment, RCMP Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, and Redwater RCMP Traffic Services. Westlock Fire and Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services also attended. La Prairie assisted with traffic control while an Alberta RCMP collision analyst attended to assist with the investigation. Westlock RCMP’s investigation is ongoing.
