Alberta RCMP MCU investigates homicide in Peace River - update

Peace River, Alta. – The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid charges in connection with the April 23, 2026, homicide at the Petro Canada on 78 street in Peace River. Police are identifying the victim as 74-year-old.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have arrested 37-year-old. They have been charged with:

  • Manslaughter;
  • Criminal negligence causing death; and 
  • Dangerous driving causing death.

The individual has been brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with their next court date set for May 25, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River. 

“We received a great deal of helpful tips from the public during this investigation, “said Staff Sergeant Tyrone Brand of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, “with community support, we were able to quickly identify and arrest the suspect in this tragic death.”
