Peace River RCMP investigating online threats to Peace River Schools - Update

Peace River, Alta. – On May 7, 2026, around 4:30 p.m., Peace River RCMP arrested a youth in connection with this incident. The youth admitted to owning the concerning Tik Tok account which implied threats of a possible school attack. Though their information can’t be shared as they are a youth, they will be charged with uttering threats. Charges have yet to be sworn and the youth is currently in custody pending a bail hearing.

“We want to thank the public for their assistance and understanding in this investigation” said Sgt, Brennan Willenborg. “The investigation is ongoing and we intend to tie up any other investigative avenue before we conclude this file. Rest assured, we have taken this matter seriously from the start and will continue to closely monitor the situation. The RCMP continues to work closely with the affected schools and are working together with partners in effort to mitigate any potential risk going forward.”
