Airdrie RCMP advising the public of heavy police presence - Update

Airdrie, Alta. – On May 15, 2026, at approximately 2:36 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to the report of a collision and multiple shots fired on Bayside Blvd. and 8 Street.
Investigation has revealed that a white Dodge Caravan was being chased by multiple suspect vehicles and was forced off the road, where it collided with a tree and shots were fired. A trailing suspect vehicle intentionally drove over an occupant of the van as they were taking cover from the gunfire. Three people were treated in hospital for minor injuries; one person was treated for serious injuries. Airdrie RCMP has determined this was a targeted incident.
Two suspects have been arrested.
A 25-year-old and a 24-year-old, both Calgary residents, have been charged with the following:
- Aggravated Assault;
- Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle; and
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Both were remanded into custody, and their next court appearance is May 21, 2026, in Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie.
