Banff RCMP on scene at collision – advising of traffic delays - Update

Banff, Alta, - On June 28, 2026, at 5:33 a.m., Banff RCMP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 1, approximately 2 km’s west of the Banff Park gates. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 24-year-old passenger, a Canmore resident, was deceased. 

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and traffic was restricted to one lane for some time. The scene has now been cleared. 

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.  

Currently, there is no further information available, and the collision remains under investigation.
