Morinville RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision- update #2

Gibbons, Alta.- On July 9, 2026, at 4:28 p.m., Morinville RCMP, and EMS responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and Jeep SUV. The collision occurred on Highway 28 between Range Road 233 and Highway 28A, north of Gibbons, Alta. 

Unfortunately, all three occupants of the Jeep SUV, were declared deceased at the scene. A 65-year-old and a 59-year-old, both residents of Gibbons, Alta., as well as a 64-year-old resident of Redwater, Alta. 

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.  

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended and the highway was closed for several hours while the RCMP investigated.  

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
