The Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP is investigating after human remains were discovered in Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.

On September 28, 2025, members of the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP received a report that possible human remains had been discovered by an individual who was walking his dog in a heavily wooded area near Nerepis Road and Route 7, in Grand Bay-Westfield. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered that the clothing located with the remains matched exactly what missing 79-year-old Ruth Carol Sutton was said to be wearing when she was last seen on May 25, 2025.

Members of the New Brunswick RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office also attended the scene and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

At this time, police are still working to confirm the identity of the human remains.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance.
