Behchokǫ̀ RCMP responding to reports of shots fired, armed individuals in community

Police in Behchokǫ̀ are responding to a report of shots fired in the community.

Officers are searching for 5-6 individuals believed to be armed with long guns travelling on 2 snowmobiles (one snowmobile is reported to be orange in color) in relation to this matter. No injuries have been reported to police.

Preliminary information indicates this was a targeted attack.

Additional police resources have been deployed to the community, and an increased police presence will be visible.

Residents of the community are asked to exercise caution and to shelter in place, away from windows and doors until further notice.

Do not post or otherwise communicate police locations in the community.

If the suspects are observed or if you have information on their whereabouts, contact the Behchokǫ̀ RCMP at 867-392-1111 or 911 in an emergency situation.
