Further to previous media releases regarding reports of shots fired and armed individuals in the community, the RCMP advises that the shelter-in-place order for Behchokǫ̀, including Edzo and Frank Channel, has now been lifted.

As a result of further investigation and a thorough risk assessment, police believe it is safe at this time to allow residents to resume normal activities.

While the order has been lifted and several individuals have been arrested, the investigation is continuing. An increased police presence will continue to be visible in the community. However, the RCMP has reasonable grounds to believe that this was a targeted attack.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or information related to this investigation to the Behchokǫ̀ RCMP at 867-392-1111, or 911 in an emergency.

Digital evidence such as photo or video may be shared with police at the following link: https://rcmp.ca.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/2026572734

The RCMP would like to thank community members and the community leadership for their cooperation and patience throughout this incident.

Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
